HansaFilm is a private capital-based film production company owned by HansaAssets, investment management company owned by entrepreneur, investor, film producer and philanthropist Armin Karu.
Entrepreneur Armin Karu has been awarded the title of Maker of the Year by the business newspaper Äripäev and the annual prize of the audiovisual art endowment of Cultural Endowment of Estonia. In 2017 he received the honorary title of Friend of Culture of the Year from the Ministry of Culture.
In a dark time, in a room with a black ceiling, Juhan Liiv, a suffering poet and an uncompromising detective, fights for justice. Being able to see deep into a person’s soul, he solves dark murder stories in Estonia at the end of the 19th century.
The feature film Melchior the Apothecary is based on the novels of Melchior the Apothecary being at the top of the book sales charts. Screenwriters Indrek Hargla, Elmo Nüganen and Olle Mirme entwined the characters and events known from the book “Apothecary Melchior and the Mystery of St Olaf’s Church” in the script with completely new and exciting twists created for the film.
